wah. tired. i tell you arh, o havent had this little sleep in a damn long time. or maybe not sleep/. lyong in bed and doing nothing. part two days were like adrenaline/anticipation - fuelled. and now feels like the starting of the catatonic state. next three hours are okay fine two hours are for doing COMPLETELY NOTHING. oh god. i can really see lwhy all those full timers who have been here for a few ,pmonthjs are fee;ling burnout. tired. damn dtired.

anyways. yesterday was better than the day beflore. there wasnt a area supervisor person tday so the amangargh manager was alot more proactivve. and he did make usure that epeople knew teheir stations and got briefedn by the poutgoing shift. went alot bettter. but what i couldnt understand was /is, qwhy are they putting majority freshies intpo the vip area? i mean by rugights wthese are hthe things i means people who aren your cash corws, right. i mean, at four leaves its olike you sell one cake, its equicalent to how many other transctuins made can. and its so much simpler and efficient. likewise, ou make one vip customer happy, its (in terms of money) quivalent to how many others what. so.. dunno. dunno why they put all these new people here. like for every shift also got new epeople lorh. shouldnt you put at least ewqual proportions of people who know and dont know styuff there, instead of maojrity newbies?\\\

aiyah.n dunno la. tired. dunno why i ahappy happy gom and ask for another shift that i didnt sign up for tonight.

The Job -- nope not the Italian one, the Singaporean one

okeydokeys, so nows the aftermath of THE JOB. hhaha, what can i say. urms. i guess im glad i went. met people from a different slice of society. got to feel exclusive and atas in all the staff only areas. but i must say, their management (lower level, at least) sure needs some tweaking, and their system is like, not there. or at least wasnt at whewr i was posted to. so heres a list of my peeves:

1) dude, what on earth is up with the one hour break before you start work? that is just.. wierd. and makes completely like, zero sense. im not sure about the other shifts, but for us we get a break like twelve to one, and then from there its all the way till nine in the morning. dude, that is seriosuly bullshit can. yeah, youre adhering to the idea thqat yeah, workers are entitled to an hours break kinda thing. but its pretty common sense right, why do your workers need a break when theyre still fresh and all ready for work? i know itll probably screw upo timetabling cos then youll have to roster and all, but im sure these things can be workewd out. well, they were pretty amenable to the suggewstion of a later break actually but its just not been "institutionalized", like four or five am. but they idea was that the staff canteen wouldnt be open then.. urgh. can we learn a little from google here?

haha, towards the end i was thinking about restaurant city on facebook and how even there with time productivity decreases and you need to either make your people sleep otr feed them food. i guess same idea here? eight hours straight with no 'legitimate' break?

2) complete lack of training. or even teh expectation of training. when you get there its like okay doing the assignment of places, various things to look out for and to expect, etc. but there is no like, briefing for newbies. and its not only me, really. all the part-timers from tcc that i spoke to said they went through pretty much what i did. just turn up, and get assigned to a task. i dunno. it was pretty messy+stressful at the start cos me and the guy assigned there were never in that section before, and while the area-in-charge was trying to make sure everyiones in their places and knows their jobs, we have to keep asking him oh wheres this or wheres that do we serve this or that? and the fulltimer auntie who was technically there was actually i dunno where so we couldnt really get a lowdown on things. it would have been ALOT more helpful if from the start wed just had a brief run through on all this need-to-know-stuff. cos when it comes down to things like we only serve tiger over here, you need to go somewhere else out of this section to get another brand and nobody knows where any of these are, let alone where i can get what i want in the first place. then the same poor person has to consulted on a wide range of little things, and has to like go carry an order to somewhere else because nobody fucking knows anything around here. so, yeah. a little more information would have been useful. cos even the full-timers, some of them are actually from the hotel, or banqueting. so it really boils down to whether youre able to grab hold of the right person to ask.

3) lack of a system. i think right, in this kinda jobs, there needs to be a certain level of demarkation of duties. somebody has to be the runner. somebody has to die die stay put on the floor at all times. maybe runner takes orders for beers or something? and the extra people/persons double those jobs. cos it was pretty chaotic actually. cos the "up there" says there must be a person on the floor at all times kinda thing. but if the other people are somewhere out there getting a draft, or filling an order for a few odd drinks, and then the person on the floor is like zzz. what am i supposed to do when im asked for a coffee or something. say its coming? cos i sure as hell know it might not be. especially if im the only one stuck here doing the guard duty kinda thing. and time goes by.. customers wonder, dude wheres my drink?! and youre like itys on the way, its on the way. but is it really?!??!

i guess im guilty of the of a customer wants milo then i go run off and get milo plus a trayful of other drinks in the meantime thing. (leaving others in the above situation) but whatre you supposed to do? a new batch of drinks is not forthcoming. i dunno. i couldnt say to the fulltimer: auntie i take this trolley and go and get a batch of hot stuff alright? you stay here can? hmm. i guess i could. yeah actually maybe i could. but im not that forward/enthu. so well.. guilty as charged?

hennyways, cos of this the service was really really lacking. requests filled slowly, (cos the bar is like waaay away) so slowly that sometimes when the drinks are here you cant find the customer cos they switched tables or something. stuff like that. and then there was the fracas with the missing change from fifty bucks. i dont really know how they settled that one. if my dad were there, he would be really really DAMN PISSED OFF BY THE SERVICE. i mean like come on la, this is supposed to be the vip area can? what eez theez?!?? technically if everythings really well run we wouldnt be short of staff. but cos of all the confusion and duplication then yeah. we were, at times. or at least, felt like. hennyways. VIP AREA LEH. you pay to be able to get into this floor can. and at the rate youre spending, surely youre entitled to better than this.

oh god this sounds like alot of whining even though im part of the problem. but i DID TRY. but it really didnt help cos of

4) low morale. all the fulltimers felt overworked. so naturally they werent into the job. when i was there one guy talked of quitting and going back to his old job. a few joked about mcdonalds, which i found out after awhile meant taking mc. so, yeah. i did try to be upbeat..... but.... a bit hard la. especially towards the end of the shift. (some more the stupid tcc la! say must wear court shoes. obviously whoever came up with the guidelines never stood for eight hours continually in them)

and it really really doesnt help when The Management, or the guys in suits, really takes a very harsh attitude towards i dunno. what theyd call bad attitude? cos theres this china girl who got scolded by The Management cos i dunno. she was walking really horribly. basically hunching/slouching/not walking smartly enough. she tried explaining that she just came back from a break or something like that. and the guy was like. do you wanna work here? if you dont wanna work here you can leave now. things like that. and thats in front of like, at least five of us others. thats bad, you know? that girl went on to work a double shift when the rest of us left. think about it guys. you need these people. respect and commitment to the organisation needs to be earned.

actually, yeah. i take back what i said about not being understaffed. they are understaffed. when people have to consistently do OT i guess that means theyre short of people? haha, not much of a hr person. yeah, and it kinda sucks cos people start to feel like they have to take mcs to recover from all that OTing. and then its like a vicious cycle where other people have to do extra to cover for the mcs, and they get overworked, and so on. oh wells.

hope the person-in-charge im assigned to later will be more competent and delegation and stuff? i mean, thats his job, right?

Day Two... and it gets a little stale

welcome to day two of the worst blog ever project. *twiddle thumbs and stares around th at ceiling* hahaha, qi if youre reading thing sometime in the future im sure youll laugh a big laugh at that. hennyways, gofor the clueless, i was trying to make a vlog and ran outt a tihngs to say and started to stare really dumbly at various corners of the ceiling. tyou have to watch it to fuloly appreciatet the eye-rolling-inducingness of it.

anywaysaies. recent movies. (pasgt couple of weeks or so) nine. not bad. read a review somewhere saying it wasngt as good as chicago. but i beg to differ, really. i gues s if youre looking for le spectacle, (or is it la?) then yeah, i guess it does disappoint somwhast. chicago was.. definately delivered in that department. but i tihnk you cant really compare it equallhy? cos in nine theres a lot more.. emotional nuances... hahaha, whatever that means. i just typed that cos i couldnt think of a better phrase. more.. trender? sheds a little more light on The Human Condition. hahaha, and im always a sucker for that kinda movies. like anything about the Singapore Condition (if it exists) and the fallibailioty of mankind, etcetcetc. but i watched it at shaw, havent stepped there in like aeons. and i tell you, its seriously OLD SCHOOL. super duper. like a few decaqdes ago kinda thing. the icketing counter, the theatre, if you were gonna watch a horror cflick there, youd be seriously freaked out. and the screen. SO SMALL! xso very very small. after watching at places at vivo with super mega screens, this is lkike how pathetic can? butttttttt. i did appreciate tehe experience for 1) shaw is really an employer of older (haha or nmature if you wanna be more politically correct) workers. they look like theyve been fhere for quite awhile. unlike cathay where its all youngyoungyoung. 2) it made me appreciate the wonders of widescreen! i mean, this was truly, the widest screen theatre ieve watched so far? (or at kleast what i can rmb la) the dimensions/proportions, at least. i dont think picturehopuse is that widescreenish even? so, yes, good thing. \

wolfman. effectiuveness 4.5/5, overall 3/5? (similar to van helsing, but not as nice, methinks)costumes 4.5/5 omg i super love the costumes can. need more marnees for tailoringgggggggg. i think i want want one set of clothes from each era. i definitely want something from the elizabethan era. corseted, long sleeves, full bodied skirts. haha, i dunno how to adapt to singpoare wweather though. a top adapted from jane austens time, flowing kinda thingies, emphasized bust, kinda dreamy? definitely a few dresses from the time of hairspray and grease! haha, all my clothes are so cui and i cant be bothered to get new stuff cos 1) im POOR. 2) i need to lose weight 3) theyre not really what im looking for abovce?

perfect soldier. hahaha, i dont even know if its gthe title. but something like that la. overall 1.5/5 hahaha. blood, gore, mindless killing action 5/5. plot/storyline 2/5 haha. enough said. my poor eyes. i mean violence with a point, adds to the whole effect whatever, yeah. but this....? for all those guys who play too much dota eetc, i think.

imaginarium of doctor parnassus! overall 4/5. idea 5/5. exxcecution/overall effect 3/5. effort 6/5. very v3ery cool idea. lurvvve. it. max. but i think its like very telling how its frequencies in cinemas are about the same as avatar? and avatar came out like at least two months ago. from what ive heard people are pretty huh? about the movie. hmmm, which is a pity. i think we're too used to the obviously defined hollywood genres. action, drama, horror, chick flick, etc.

aiyars, now all the movies are so sucky ive got nothing to watch. its not that theres no movies, far from it. but theyre all not my kinda movies! haha ill end up as disappointed as after perfect sioldier. i guess i could go watch at sinema.. but its like how inconvenient acan. must climb up the super liong steps. anyways cant wait for ALICE IN WONDERLAND. it looks SOSOSOSOSO GOOOOOOOOD. i think i might even watch more than once. omgzzzzzzz. SSSSOOOOOO GOOD. hahaha, need i say more. even the posters are so madeofawesome can?

anyways, coffin too big for the hole got sold out. that really really sucks. first time in a while that i missed huayi festival? =(
